March Meet The Maker | Decision
.
Are you ready for some T? Running a small business is all about making decisions... What is right for the brand? What is right for us as a couple? Sometimes the decisions flow easily and sometimes they need to be thought through properly (by properly I mean lots of chats with friends and family plus lots of coffee).
.
At the end of last year, we sat down and discussed the way that we were doing markets and we decided that things needed to change. We wanted to focus on local markets which meant less time traveling and less fuel. We also wanted to create space in our week so we reconnect with our creative energy as we wanted to develop new products, elevate our current range and explore new ways to connect with shoppers including Etsy and other platforms. We also wanted to create time and space for us as a couple, something that we lacked in 2021-22.
.
Our own experience has taught us that traders are not supposed to be fixed to locations but more nomadic, going to new places and introducing new people to their brand. So with this in mind, we made some pretty big decisions.
.
The biggest part of running a small business is evolving. Our business has to evolve in order to grow and over the past three years, we have been able to navigate what has been thrown at us, from lockdowns to the cost of living crisis. Every decision we make is part of our evolution, sometimes that's a step back so we can see the bigger picture and sometimes it's a leap forward into something new. The most important thing is that we continue to evaluate our business, put it under the microscope and examine it and then make the discissions needed to forge a new path. Sometimes those decisions look selfish and out of character, but our business is our baby and we have to do what is right in order for it to survive. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last few months, thank you for listening and for nudging us in the right direction.
